Here we will master the paradoxical problem of being strong and grounded while remaining light and receptive. We will focus our attention on preparatory actions and continue our work from “Spirals in Your Eyes.” *All Levels Saturday, January 4 1:45 - 3:15 pm: There Is No Boleo These are not the boleos you are looking for. After our work on spirals and pressure, we return to the fundamentals of the boleo, but this time with a twist: we will learn the switch-timing technique for banderitas, often used in the variación or whenever there is a need for speed. Commonly considered a tango escenario movement, but 100% improvisable… aka lots of fun! *All Levels Saturday, January 4 3:30 - 5:00 pm: Sacada! 3.0 “Gancho Edition” By popular demand… Sacadas are some of the most widely-used steps in Tango Salon and are essential in building a wider vocabulary. In this edition we will add ganchos within the structure of the giro, breaking down the technique of the lead as well as the follower’s free leg. *All Levels Sunday, January 5 2:00 - 3:30 pm: Now Focus on Me This class is all about creative improvisation and communication with your partner. We will take common steps and add consecutive layers of detail to make even simple vocabulary feel amazing. This class is often likened to a guided tango meditation which aims to open the mind to new possibilities. *All Levels Sunday, January 5 3:45 - 5:15 pm: Wednesday Mode - Dancing to Alternative Music The moment we’ve all been waiting for… Here we will discuss and practice how to capture the essence of alternative music to maximize the epicness of your weekly Wednesday Tango experience. We will move away from the common habit of going into “milonga mode” and learn how to pace our musicality. And of course, I’ll bring my best tunes. *All Levels Monday, January 6 7:30 - 9:00 pm: Make the Walk Great Again (Technique Class) The walk—the quintessential defining movement of Tango. Everything about the dance is contained within, so let’s make it great! In this technique class we will practice solo as well as in couples. We will do drills, talk posture, weight placement, grounding, different pisadas, and musicality. *All-levels INTENSIVE SUITABLE FOR ALL LEVELS EXCEPT COMPLETE BEGINNER.
