PHYSICAL FORCES and How to Fall in Love with Them Contact Improvisation Intensive 🗓25 July - 2 August 2026 📍ВАLI📍 Facilitator: Ivan Gurianov 🤸‍♀️This intensive can be called Fundamental-Advanced. The core idea of this program is to gather the main techniques and movement principles of Contact Improvisation and go through them one by one: starting with the most simple and fundamental and learning more and more challenging and exciting ideas. 🔍🕵️‍♀️This method is based on the concept of deduction (from general idea to particular action) and it opens up a wide possibility to have more than just a set of skills, but a map which will help you to acquire new skills even after the workshop. 🗺What do I mean by a map? I created special symbols to visualize each movement principle we can encounter in Contact Improvisation. These symbols help to memorize techniques and apply them in the dance. ✈️And yes, this intensive includes flying techniques on each level, including shoulders. ❗️ It is required to have at least 3 months and a minimum of 40 hours of practice (classes + jams) of Contact Improvisation before joining this intensive. Partial participation is not available. Teacher: Ivan Gurianov - facilitator of contact improvisation since 2018, teacher & co-organiser of international Contact Improvisation programs, performer, multidisciplinary artist.�As a child Ivan practiced acrobatics & football.�From 2005 was practicing yoga & meditation. At the same time, Ivan started to learn different schools of western and eastern philosophy and spiritual teachings. Since 2007 to 2009 studied martial arts. Ivan has been trained in different modern dance styles: butoh, hip-hop, popping, house, jazz funk, contemporary dance, tango. Other movement practices that he studied: Ideokinesis, Axis Syllabus & Movement Culture, Flow Arts & Physical Theatre. For the first time Ivan encountered contact improvisation in 2013, and has been teaching contact improvisation since 2018. He has been facilitating Contact Improvisation in Russia, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong & South Korea and organizing international courses and residencies.
