“Physical Forces and How to Fall in Love with Them” Contact Improvisation Flying Intensive I am happy to introduce my new program on flying and effortless acrobatics in Contact Improvisation. We will have 8 days of training, 4 hours each day. Only for people with experience in contact improvisation! When: 19 to 29 February 2024 (19,20 + 22,23 + 25,26 + 28,29 Feb) 10 am to 2 pm each day. Where: Arambol, Goa, India Program: - Flying patterns on each level including shoulder lifts and ways to develop these patterns into improvisation. - Physical forces and how align movement with them to make it effortless. - Dynamic flights. - Attention, perception & reflexes. - Communication of ideas through the body. - Bio mechanics of the body. - Somatic exercises to access subtle aspects of movement. - Exercises to increase range of mobility and develop muscle control. - Contact jazz: how to go beyond standard moves by using each bit of the body to achieve smoothness and widen your dance vocabulary. Facilitator: Ivan Gurianov Registration: +918459303211 WA/TG Here are some thoughts about the upcoming intensive: In the last years of teaching 3-4 days programs dedicated to flying in CI, I always felt it’s not enough time to give all the material related to this topic so now we will have 8 days to practice: 4 blocks by 2 days each with one day break in between of each block. Will it be enough to visit this workshop to master flying in Contact Improvisation? No. To embody these skills you will need several months or years, but it will be enough time to give key techniques so that with continuous practice you will be able to master effortless flying. I want to make this program very practical and clear so you actually can take it with you and have a clear idea how to develop your practice of contact improvisation. Registration: +918459303211 WA/TG About teacher: Ivan Gurianov - facilitator of contact improvisation since 2018, teacher & co-orgraniser of international residencies & workshops, Performer, Multidisciplinary artist. As a child Ivan practiced acrobatics & football. From 2005 was practicing yoga & meditation. At the same time, Ivan started to learn different schools of western and eastern philosophy and spiritual teachings. Since 2007 to 2009 had 2 years of training one-on-one with a master of martial art form similar in principals to Aikido & Contact Improvisation. Ivan has been trained in different modern dance styles: hip-hop, popping, house, jazz funk, contemporary dance, tango. Other movement practices that he studied: Ideokinesis, Axis Syllabus & Movement Culture & Flow Arts. Since 2018 has been practicing improvised theatre. Done 3 weeks residency in physical theatre & 1,5 month residency studying Stanislavkiy/Checkov approach. In the last years a big part of his activity became Butoh dance, in this style Ivan has done multiple performances with Jungle Dance Butoh theatre and other dance groups in Goa and other places. For the first time Ivan encountered contact improvisation in 2013, and has been teaching contact improvisation since 2018. He has been facilitating Contact Improvisation in Russia, India, Thailand and Indonesia and organizing international courses and residencies. Ivan is passionate to acquire new knowledge about movement & arts, integrating every piece of knowledge into his practice of CI. His unique characteristic is curiosity for self research through direct experience and analytical approach to the movement.
