PILE 2018: Penn Intercollegiate Lindy Exchange!

As always, all of your favorite UPenn swing dancers will strive to make this event as enjoyable, educational, and welcoming as we possibly can for a day chock-full of lessons at three different tiers from professional instructors, competitions of oh so many different sorts, and of course, some incredible social dancing in partnership with Philly Fish Fry and amazing LIVE BANDS! In the past, PILE has brought hundreds of dancers from all over the east coast for the single largest Lindy Hop event to be found in Philadelphia and the best-value event in the region. This year's goal is to gather over 300 students, community members, out-of-towners, and more for one amazing weekend! WORKSHOPS: Saturday 10:00am-3:00pm Advanced Track: Recommended for dancers with 3+ years of consistent social dancing experience. Instructors: Rafal Pustelny & Adrienne Weidert, Gaby Cook Intermediate Track Instructors: Recommended for dancers with 1-3 years of consistent social dancing experience. Lauren Levey & Jae Yoo, Rafal Pustelny & Adrienne Weidert, and Gaby Cook Beginner Track Instructors: Kevin Mascitelli and Julianne Ferrill, Gaby Cook COLLEGIATE COMPETITIONS: Saturday 3:30pm-7:00pm DJ: Lauren Levey Newbie Mix & Match: Randomized partner competition for dancers with under six months of experience, or under three months experience in a secondary role. Veteran Mix & Match: Randomized partner competition for dancers with over a year of experience Strictly lindy: BYOPartner Solo Charleston: Who needs partners anyways? **THIRD EVER** Intercollegiate Battle: A back-and-forth college-on-college two song challenge open to groups of four or more. The prelims for this competition will be on FRIDAY at the PILE-ON dance at Harmony Studios! The finals will be held at a time TBA during the collegiate competitions time slot. Open Mix & Match: Randomized partner competition for anyone, student or not! The prelims and finals for this competition will be on FRIDAY at the PILE-ON dance at Harmony Studios! LIVE BANDS AND DANCING: Friday 8/7 -- PILE-On Friday Night Dance w/ Parlour Noir! at Harmony Studios! Swing out to the sumptuous sounds of Parlour Noir from 8pm-midnight. +$12 for community members, +$7 for students already registered for PILE. Saturday 8/8 -- THE MAIN EVENT! 9:00pm-midnight. Joshua Fialkoff and the Odd Fellows will be filling Houston Hall with music for Philadelphia's largest dance of the year! Sunday 8/9 -- Noon-2:00pm-ish FREE PILE-On Sunday Afternoon Dance w/ Parlour Noir in Rittenhouse Square! Parlour Noir is back and ready to keep those feet of yours a'dancin! We'll just keep the music going until there's nobody around anymore.
