About this Event
PLAY-FIGHT INTENSIVE
Como 29 Ottobre - 1 Novembre
(ENGLISH BELOW)
Aspetti principali dell’intensivo:

(English version)
The Intensive will weave a journey through different exercises, eventually flowing into the free play. Focusing on reawakening awareness upon stored unnecessary tensions and those patterns that are not always functional, we gradually move beyond the field of mere physicality to embrace all aspects of the being. Only when able to recognise how much tension we accumulate in our system (physical, mental, emotional..), by releasing, can we transform the tension into real power.
“Stop doing” allows the body to re-function organically and efficiently and to enjoy the richness that unfolds in every small movement, especially when in connection with another person. In this way, we learn to not add, to not force, to not run away, we experience instead how to stay with what is there and ride every wave with honesty and wholeness.
The partner in this practice is the best mirror, allowing us to playfully stretch the comfort zone and to get in touch with our patterns of reaction. We in fact explore how to be able to respond instead of reacting to what is happening and welcome a state of attention instead of intention. The moments of free-play become opportunities to access a never-ending flow of possibilities, responding intuitively with open mind and available body, crafting together an unpredictable interplay between confrontation & collaboration.
Main Topics for this intensive:
- embodiment of non-resistance quality/state
- “stop doing” as transformative resource
- move in between more body mass and lighter, yet deeper touch
- integrity exploration: function as a whole
- play/study/flow between confrontation & cooperation
More about the practice:
Play-Fight, a self-empowering physical practice that weaves together cooperative qualities of dance partnering with highly refined confrontational principles from capoeira and internal martial arts. The exploration goes beyond the fringes of mere physicality. The reciprocal mirroring through the physical drills leads the practice into a deep space of self-discovery, for acknowledging and revealing myriad aspects in human interactions and expressions. The core guidance is to learn how to preserve own integrity and inner calm under controlled stress-induced events while being engaged through playfully confrontational interactions. The embodiment of principles of non-resistance and non-violence is at the top of all achievements for allowing flow to be embodied, returning thus to our original state of being.

The Facilitators:
Francesca Romano _ She started her studies in dance and movement when she was a child. Over the years she went through Artistic Gymnastics, modern and contemporary dance, contact improvisation, dance theatre, performing arts studying and working with many dancers and movement researchers. In 2005 she graduated at the School of Drama Paolo Grassi (Milan).
It was in 2015 that she approached the work of Bruno Caverna during a Play-Fight workshop. From that moment she started to follow this practice constantly, finding in its tools important points of inspiration, new ways to approach movement and life, new ways to connect with the others and herself. As member of Formless Arts team she supports the realization of specific projects and works as Play-Fight facilitator.
Ester Braga _ I have been exploring my body through movement for my whole life, trying a variety of physical practices. Contemporary dance, flying low & passing through, yoga, bmc, contact improvisation, and since the past 5 years liquid body & play-fight are those practices who mostly shaped and are shaping the way I move and discover myself through the physical expression and interaction with others. My latest consistent training into play-fight practice by Bruno Caverna gave me the possibility to open up myself to contact improvisation with a new state of mind (and body) which allows me to explore, within the frame of contact, but with a greater freedom cultivated through the play-fight training. For this reason I have been extremely curious to explore this fine line between the two approaches, in my body first. I am highly inspired to see how certain principles in the moment of the improvisation can work harmoniously together, empowering the dance from inside out, or can also take completely different directions. Since two years I am taking part in the Play-Fight Facilitator Program guided by Bruno Caverna; a mind-blowing journey. This path gives me the ground to facilitate play-fight and in this particular case is offering some tools to enrich my personal study that moves in between the two practices.
