Poetry of Physics - Contact Improvisation Workshop

Poetry Of Physics 4 days contact improvisation workshop. 10,11 + 13,14 September. 10 Am to 2 pm each day. Koh Phangan, Thailand This course is balancing between two major topics: First topic is body exploration, practical anatomy & somatic movement research and its application in contact improvisation. When we know better our structure it gives us possibility to be smother and more efficient. It will be technical but without emphasis on acrobatics working primarily on quality of movement In CI. Second side of this course is about inner poetry in contact improvisation. We will explore how our dance can be more than just sequence of moves but the story, an art, a beauty in motion. And how this story can stay in the frame of CI without indulging into artificial theatricality. I invite you to go through this exploration together! About facilitator: Ivan Gurianov - facilitator of contact improvisation since 2018, teacher & co-organiser of international residencies & workshops, Performer, multidisciplinary artist. As a child Ivan practiced acrobatics & football. From 2005 was practicing yoga & meditation. At the same time, Ivan started to learn different schools of western and eastern philosophy and spiritual teachings. Since 2007 to 2009 studied martial arts. Ivan has been trained in different modern dance styles: butoh, hip-hop, popping, house, jazz funk, contemporary dance, tango. Other movement practices that he studied: Ideokinesis, Axis Syllabus & Movement Culture & Flow Arts. For the first time Ivan encountered contact improvisation in 2013, and has been teaching contact improvisation since 2018. He has been facilitating Contact Improvisation in Russia, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam & China and organising international courses and residencies. Ivan is passionate to acquire new knowledge about movement & arts, integrating every piece of knowledge into his practice of CI. His unique characteristic is curiosity for self research through direct experience and analytical approach to the movement.
