About this Event

Pooja's Practica is back! We took a break in April for En Vivo: Duo of Duos, but we are so excited to get back into the swing of things. We are so excited to be hosting another guided practica at the Green Room. Your guide in the month of May will be Travis Widrick! Haven't had the chance to meet Travis yet?! Here's a bit more about him: Travis is an Argentine Tango teacher, DJ and event organizor currently living in Washington, DC. He has been dancing and teaching tango for over 16 years and was organizor of ESO! Buffalo Tango Marathon for 7 years. As a dancer, he has an expressiveness that is grounded in both the music, and an interactive, playful connection with his partner. Travis is passionate about teaching, and strives to bring to the surface the potential of each of his students. He believes that a strong foundation in the basic concepts underlying the structure, technique, and musicality of tango will give dancers the freedom to be creative on the dance floor and have fun too. Remember, the Pooja's Practica house rules still apply, so here is a refresher: 1.) Practice: Pooja's Practica is a place to play and explore Tango. It is not meant to be an informal milonga, nor a class. We encourage conversation, trial and error, and having fun! 2.) Partnering: Pooja's Practica is a space to practice the art of social Tango. This means partnering with multiple individuals to practice. Rotation is required after each Super Tanda (three tandas in a row). 3.) Entrada: $20.00/dancer. This will cover the floor fees and guiding teachers, who we will try to source for one practica/month. 4.) Community: Please protect one another by presenting a negative COVID test for entry. Vaccination requirements will no longer be required. Limited tests available at the door. Stay tuned for more updates, but we hope you will join us for some serious fun, as we practica and play with Tango!
