Every Thursday for over twenty eight years, Tango La Nacional hosts an intimate community of dancers from every corner of the world. We are LGBTQIA+ friendly with an emphasis on inclusivity and harnessing the power of embracing a stranger. We are located in the heart of Meatpacking District above the legendary La Nacional Spanish tapas bar & restaurant. Norma is a Colombian artist, community organizer, and amateur tango dancer with more than 15 years of experience. Raised in a family of musicians and artists, she grew up dancing traditional Colombian music and later worked as an actress, director, and cultural project leader. Since coming out, she has been dedicated to LGBTQIA+ advocacy and to creating safer, more inclusive spaces in the arts and social dance communities. She is the creator of Switcher Witches Tango Night in New York City, an inclusive tango event that celebrates role fluidity, connection, and community, with a special focus on women and non-binary people who dance both roles. Matías, a Uruguayan tango dancer, embarked on his tango journey in 2011 and has always been connected with queer tango communities. He has made various contributions to the tango community as an instructor, milonga organizer, TDJ, and performer. His deep passion for tango music has led him to explore dance and has kept him actively engaged in diverse tango scenes, both as a milonguero and as a stage tango dancer.
