About this Event
Our last event was full of pleasant surprises, including a couple of separate attendees who we have not seen at Project NFT since our Palace Hotel days in Camberwell (over 8 years ago!), hearing about one of our patrons from very early days who moved back to their home country and has returned to live here and hopefully we will see very soon, a very experienced neo tango dancer and his partner visiting from interstate, plus the lovely Rimma's return after many months overseas which ended up being further extended. My head was spinning afterwards from all the excitement! It was a great attendance, except we needed more guys - so I am putting out positive energy to bring more men in this Sunday.
We have all heard of that saying 'It takes two to tango'. Yes, literally you need two people as it is a partner dance, but it means more than that. Improvised partner dancing, such as tango, is its own language shared by the two people communicating to each other with their moves and the way they move together, lead and follow response, connection and interpreting the music in that couple. When you dance with another person, I feel that you are non verbally speaking a dialect of the same language, as there are variations and different subtleties with every person you dance with, but the main core is there. In this communication of the two people it takes to tango, both are equally important, you can't have one without the other. A lead is an invitation and not a command, a good leader is one who listens and allows the follower to speak by expressing themselves also. This is really when the dance becomes active between two people, and when you feel the unison most with the other partner in the dance.
Our DJ this Sunday is DJ Bella.
