Puerto Rican Heritage Society celebrates Three Kings Day

Hola Mi Gente, Don't take the Christmas decorations and Christmas tree down yet. Some of us are still celebrating! On Three Kings day, just about …every Latin American country has some sort of celebration! It marks the Epiphany, according to Biblical tradition, this was the day that three kings, Gaspar , Melchor y Baltazar visited the baby Jesus bringing him gifts. On Three Kings day, just about ...every Latin American country has some sort of celebration! One that some took more seriously than others. Some have a “Promesa”, where every year they bring a parranda to the Reyes with some cause in mind. Others just join in anywhere there is a party and partake on some great Puerto Rican food and best of all, our beautiful music. This is the time where every jibarito or anyone with the “mancha de platano” comes out and enjoy some truly beautiful traditional music or Musica Jibara. Let’s continue to share this tradition. Teach it to your kids and friends. Try to relive those days when you were growing up! We do, and until this day not only we celebrate the Epiphany with a better understanding of its true meaning, but we go through the lengths of getting our shoebox and putting some grass in it and wait for the Three Kings to show up! The Puerto Rican Society of Hawaii & Hawaii's Plantation Village invites you to come & celebrate the traditional Latin American holiday ~ "El Dia de los Tres Reyes" (Three Kings Day). The event will be held on January 4th, 2020, Saturday, 10am - 3pm at Hawaii's Plantation Village, 94-695 Waipahu St,. Waipahu, Hawaii. This event is FREE & open to the public. LIVE BANDS featuring Puerto Rican "Música Typica", Bachata, Salsa, Merengue & more! Folkloric Dancers. Food Venders, Children's area with Make & Take crafters & more. The Three Kings will be giving out gift bags & stuffed animals to the first 150 children! Puerto Rican Cultural Display!
