About this Event
Everybody knows Cuban salsa. It Is a folk style danced literally on the street, as they say “por la calle”. There is another style of salsa pretty known in the Caraibean area, that is Puertorican Style.
The are really different, although the two islands are pretty close to each other. But they have more in common that you can think, they were born in the early '70s, and they are both folk style. We can say they are really Caribbean. Some of you know the style that from Puerto Rico came to America : New York Style. A long time ago the difference between the two style were evident, but now it is very hard to notice the difference because there are big salsa congresses and famous dancers influence one each other. By the way the feeling of dancing is different. The New York Style is a mix of dynamism, strength and virtuosity while the Puertorican Style is soft, more elegant with short movement. And there are not many figures.
The first is more suitable for coreografic shows (the Los Angeles Style is even more acrobatic and faster) the second for the every day dancing. Vamos a Bailar salseros!
