RDU Welcome Weekender with Anna Hoekstra!

We are thrilled to welcome international zouk instructor Anna Hoekstra to the Triangle for a 3.5 month residency this fall! Join us for a kick-off weekender full of workshops, socials, and community building to launch the start of Anna’s time with us! NOTE: The workshops assume a strong knowledge of the fundamentals of zouk. You MUST have completed an introductory zouk series to take the workshops. If you are brand new to zouk and feel unprepared to take Anna’s workshops, we welcome you to check out her Intro to Zouk class this fall. Feel free to contact us with any questions. ABOUT THE ARTISTS: Anna Hoekstra - Australia Anna is an Australian dancer who has been teaching Brazilian Zouk since 2018. Initially a Salsa and Bachata teacher Anna fell in love with the Zouk community and dance style and switched her Professional goals around very quickly. Since beginning her international career Anna has taught in more than 20 countries across Europe, North and South America, and Australia. With more than ten years experience as a circus performer and a science degree majoring in Human Anatomy, Anna's teaching is focused on structure and function as well as efficiency in movement. DJ WarHoll - Richmond, VA Based in Richmond, VA, Warren Holly started to be involved with dance in 2010. Since then, he has explored a variety of genres, including hip-hop, house, salsa, and bachata. In 2018, he developed interest in Brazilian Zouk, and is now solely focused on improving in that style. He has begun to hone his craft as DJ WarHoll and hopes to continue to grow the local Richmond Zouk scene as well as grow in his knowledge and appreciation for the culture. COVID SAFETY RULES: - A covid negative test will be required for all participants, staff, and instructors before entrance to the event. - Vaccinations, boosters, and masks will be optional but highly recommended for this event. - Dancers showing any symptoms and dancers with known recent exposure to a COVID patient should not attend our events. We will offer a full refund for those canceling due to COVID exposure, symptoms, or a positive COVID test. - If you develop symptoms after attending this event, please notify the organizer immediately.
