Rhythms In Salsa Workshop

🪘RHYTHMS IN SALSA: Salsa music is far more than a single rhythm or structure. Beneath what we often call “Mambo” lies a rich world of Afro-Latin and African rhythms—each with its own identity, phrasing, and feeling. We’ve been offering and evolving this workshop since 2013, and it’s become a signature part of our work—an ongoing exploration of the depth and variety within the music we dance to. We’re excited to share it again with both new students and those returning to continue exploring this work with fresh ears and new perspective. In this workshop, we’ll learn how to hear, recognize, and respond to these rhythms—and begin to listen beyond the familiar 1-2-3 / 5-6-7 within the same music we already know and love. This isn’t about patterns—it’s about expanding our musical awareness and developing the ability to adapt and express what we hear.
