Ritmos y Raíces Athens Dance Weekender

TIMBAthens is hosting a 3-day event in collaboration with the UGA Department of Dance and the Hugh Hodgson School of Music that will consist of social dancing, performances, and dance workshops led by Duane Wrenn of Energetic Soul Dance & Fitness (Detroit, MI), Julian Mejía of SALSAtlanta (Atlanta, GA), Nicole Fisichella and Joseph Cornejo of Crown Zouk (Charlotte, NC), professional dance competitors and salsa caleña instructors Bryan Rodriguez and José Campaz (Greenville, SC), and professionally trained Afro-Cuban and Folklore instructor Aramis Pazos (Havana, Cuba). Friday, August 22: Kick-off at Live Wire Athens will be FREE to the public. Dance class at 7:30 PM followed by 30 minutes of dance performances, a live music performance by students from the Hugh Hodgson School of Music at 9pm, then social dancing until 1AM with DJ Mane & Mr. Clahvay. Saturday, August 23: Dance workshops from 10 AM until 5 PM in the UGA Dance Theatre. Dance social at Athentic Brewing includes a dance class at 8 PM, followed by social dancing from 9 PM until 12:30 AM with DJ Mane and Mr. Clahvay. *This is a ticketed event* Sunday, August 24: Dance workshops from 10 AM until 1 PM at Athentic Brewing Company followed by social dancing until 4 PM.
