Think your feet have a mind of their own? Fear not — get ready to groove and leave your inhibitions behind! In our beginner-friendly rock'n'roll course, you'll master the fundamental steps with ease while building the confidence to shine on the social floor. Ditch the nerves, dress comfortably, and leave your worries at the door — no partner required, just your willingness to dance your heart out! New to rock'n'roll? / 7:15 PM — INTERMEDIATE ROCK'N'ROLL / Ready to take your rock'n'roll to the next level? Our intermediate class is a fun journey through more advanced moves, refined technique, and stylish flair. We recommend completing our beginners course first, as you'll dive deeper into leading and following, more complex combos, intricate footwork variations, and adding your own personal touch to every step. Expect to expand your dance repertoire, unleash your creativity, and learn some seriously cool moves. / 8:15 PM — BEGINNERS SWING & LINDY HOP / Always wanted to dance to that classic Big Band sound? Our beginners swing and Lindy Hop class is the perfect place to start. You'll learn the foundation steps that have kept dancers smiling since the 1930s — taught with patience, plenty of laughs, and zero pressure. No partner needed, no experience required, and no need to be "good at dancing" — just turn up in flat shoes, leave the nerves at the door, and we'll take care of the rest. / 8:15 PM — INTERMEDIATE SWING & LINDY HOP / Already got the basics under your feet? Our intermediate swing and Lindy Hop class is where things really start to swing. We'll deepen your connection in leading and following, work on more complex moves and combos, sharpen your footwork variations, and help you develop the musicality and styling that turns steps into dancing. We recommend completing the beginner's course first. Come ready to play, experiment, and dance with some of the best in the room. / CLASS PASSES / $18 for a single class per person, or $30 to do both the Rock'n'Roll and Swing classes on the same night. 4-class pass: $60 per person. Buy online at sydneyswingkatz.com.au or pay at the door (cash & card accepted). / PARKING / Emu Plains Public School has a small car park if you arrive early, plus plenty of street parking nearby. / PUBLIC TRANSPORT / There's a bus stop a 5-minute walk from Emu Plains Public School, but the class is best accessed by car. / FAQ / - Am I too old / too young? Our classes attract a wide age range — from people in their 20s right through to folks in their 70s. There's no "right" age to start dancing, and you'll find a friendly mix on the floor every week. - What do I wear? Flat shoes and comfortable clothing. Some dancers love to get all dressed up, while others just wear what makes them happy. A dance class can be a bit of a workout, so dress accordingly — but if you want to get dolled up, you won't be the only one. - Do I need a partner? Come alone, bring a friend, or invite a whole group. We encourage rotating partners in class — it's the best way to improve, and it's how you'll meet the friendly faces you'll keep seeing on the social dance floor. Teachers and performance troupe members step in, too, so it's a great chance to learn from some of the best dancers in Australia. - Do we have to swap partners? We encourage swapping because it's the fastest way to improve, but you're more than welcome to stay with one partner the whole class. We want everyone to feel comfortable. - Do I need to book? We recommend booking online, but you're welcome to drop in and pay on the day.
