We strive to bring international, world-famous instructors and dancers to Denver to share their love of this style of dance. We are excited to be including St. Louis Shag for this edition of our event as well. We have two primary couples teaching Balboa: Mickey Fortanasce and Kelly Arsenault, as well as David Rehm and (Denver’s own) Heather Ballew. Teaching St. Louis Shag will be Shag champions Christian Frommelt and Jenny Shirar. All of these instructors have a mile-long résumé, so you will get quality instruction from every single class we offer. And whether you are more experienced in Balboa, or just beginning, we’ll have classes to fit you. Friday night Gabe Mervine (Denver) will lead a band featuring Dan Levinson on reeds. Saturday night's live music with band leader Dan Levinson of New York. Levinson’s clarinet will be leading a Benny Goodman-style band featuring vocalist Molly Ryan of New York. Don’t miss this line up on Saturday Night. DJ's for Rocky Mountain Balboa Blowout (the half year edition), include Kyle Smith, Suzanne “DJ Big Mama” Sluizer, and Teresa Sparks. We are also proud to welcome Mr. Bobby White III as our emcee! Some don’t know that cmDance teaches dance programs in schools around the city. Community-Minded Dance is committed to education: any proceeds from this event serve as a fundraiser for our school programs, and the amazing instructors we bring in for this event also visit local schools during the week, giving Colorado adolescents and teenagers the opportunity to learn from the best in the world.
