Rueda & Cuban Casino Workshops with Reinier Valdés!

I'm super excited to announce another Cuban Dance Immersion weekend of learning and fun! Reinier Valdés from Cuba and his dance team La Clave Cubana will be visiting Vancouver to bring knowledge and great vibes. Let's give them a warm welcoming! Reinier will be teaching 2 workshops: Rueda de Casino, and Advanced Casino + Fusion workshops, while La Clave Cubana dance team will make an appearance at the upcoming CUBANIZATION dance party on Saturday February 23rd. Workshop details below. Read thoroughly. DAY 1 (RUEDA DE CASINO) When: SATURDAY - FEB 23rd Where: WISE HALL 1882 Adanac St (near Commercial Drive) Time: 12:00 to 3:00 pm Admission: $80 PRICED PER COUPLE Student discount: $70 per couple (BOTH dancers must provide proof of current full time enrollment). Prerequisite: for intermediate and advanced dancers. YOU MUST HAVE A PARTNER TO ATTEND. This is done to avoid a disbalance in the class. When purchasing your tickets, please include your dance partner's name. RUEDA DE CASINO Reinier is teaching for the first time in Vancouver, bringing a variety of Rueda calls that will provide a fun challenge for both Leads and Follows. As a Rueda addict, Reinier is excited to introduce moves that combine complexity with humour, and good sense of rhythm with precision. You will learn about the different possibilities for collective fun that Rueda offers. This workshop is definitely a Must for all rueda lovers. Anyone with knowledge of the essentials of Cuban Casino can attend this workshop. That is, intermediate and advanced dancers alike. You’ll have 3 hours of learning. DAY 2 (ADVANCED CASINO & FUSION) When: SUNDAY - FEB 24th Where: BC Dance Studio (877 Hamilton St. Downtown) Time: 11:30 to 2:30 pm Admission: $80 PRICED PER COUPLE Student discount: $70 per couple (BOTH dancers must provide proof of current full time enrollment). The Cuban Timba music of today is heavily influenced by direct Rumba and Afro-Cuban rhythmic references. This logically invites us to incorporate the referenced dance element in the routine, but how do we do this? Reinier will show you how to meaningfully incorporate Rumba moves in your casino routine. Doing fusion is a real fun challenge where both dancers will test their understanding of music and mastery of different dance manifestations.
