** Current Schedule **
* 7pm Beginner's Course *
No experience needed and all welcome! The course is also suitable for those wanting to brush up their foundations or switch roles!
* 8pm Rueda FUNdamentals *
This class is open to all salsa dancers. The focus is the skills required to dance in social ruedas, leading and following in partnerwork, and most importantly: Fun!
* 8:45pm Salsa Social *
🎶 Music policy is salsa, timba and son. Anyone is welcome to join this for a social dance!
* 9:15pm Rueda Flow *
This class is for regular rueda dancers and is a closed group where the pace of learning is faster, we stretch ourselves to try new concepts and we might sometimes get a bit geeky about rueda. This class is great prep for attending rueda congresses! Send a message to see whether this class is right for you and to receive an invitation ✉️
💷 £9 for one class, £13 for both.
FAQs:
Do you take beginners?
Our drop in classes are not suitable for complete salsa beginners, but keep an eye out for our beginner's Foundations courses where you'll make real progress and build confidence through a progressive programme.
I dance a different style of salsa. Can I join in?
Yes! provided you're confident in your timing, weight transfer and basic leads you can join our FUNdamentals class: Tell us before the start of the class and we'll help you to adapt to Casino style!
Do I need a partner?
No! in Rueda de Casino we change partners all the time.
What should I wear?
Whatever you're comfortable in (as long as it's clean), we're more interested in dancing with you than how you look! Rueda de Casino is usually best in flat shoes. Stilettos will not be suitable.
Is there a bar?
No, so please feel free to bring drinks with you.
Is there parking?
Yes, the centre has a large, well-lit, free car park.
The door's locked?
The centre locks the doors after dark. Press the buzzer for reception and the door will be opened for you.
Will I be forced to lead/follow if I want to dance the opposite role?
We know this can be a worry for some people. At Rueda Alegría we encourage our dancers to learn their opposite role because it improves everyone's leading and following technique (and opens up a range of different rueda opportunities to dancers). Role rotation is not compulsory, but please be aware that you cannot assume anyone's role in our ruedas by their appearance 😉 We have a lot of flexible dancers who are happy in either role, just tell us at the start of class which role you're wanting to learn.
I still have questions...
That's ok! Send a message and we'll answer them 🙂
