PLUS, day hike with dancing in nature in Sachsiche Schwiez, 6 June! for more details and registration, go to the website... www.bodyresearch.org — These 4 days will be an opportunity to explore CI together in a retreat, flowing back and forth among open dancing, round robin, labs around proposed questions, sharing food together, discussions, and simple conviviality. Karl will offer daily classes concentrating on classic The event is open to those who have already some CI experience and are comfortable with the more physics-based side of CI: weight sharing, mutual support and surrender, off-balance, lifts, and the blend of control and loss of control. Rather than being about trying to stretch the frame of CI, the gathering is primarily about looking at what is in the center of the container, the classic contact improvisation duet. We may expand from there, but this is our base and primary investigation. The Tanzgut space is an awesome, funky retreat space with a big dance room, devoted to being an affordable, non-profit space for people to gather to explore the body. The event is also non-profit, with proceeds from the weekend going to environmental and social justice causes. Limitted to 20 participants. For those who like, when we leave Monday, perhaps some of us will go for a few days of hiking and nights of camping in Sachsiche Schweiz. Causes Both this event and the Dancing Wilderness Project (17-19 June) are fundraiser events. I (Karl )don’t make any money off the events. Part of the money will go to First Nations groups in western Canada fighting for control of their land against Canadian colonial extractivist industries, protecting some of the richest riverine and marine ecosystems in the world. The rest goes to support people in need in Ukraine.
