About this Event
A workshop blending Salsa dance and American Sign Language (ASL), led by Harvard Dance Center spring 2020 visiting artist Kerry Thompson Ed.M. '08! Learn the basic concepts of Salsa dance while also learning ASL phrases to use on and off the dance floor.
Thompson, a recognized salsa dancer and instructor who is DeafBlind herself, will offer insights into how people who are Deaf can “hear” the music; how blind people can “see” the dance; how experienced dancers can use sign language to improve their craft; and how dance can create a more inclusive society.
Open for all levels and abilities and no Salsa or ASL experience is required. Even those with dance or ASL experience will come away learning something new!
Participation is free, but due to limited class capacity, ONLINE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED: https://bit.ly/2O5QueC
