It is an amalgamation of techniques that have been popular in the DC region over the past decade. It is a form of salsa/mambo, with a preference for rotational movements, checks/redirections, and traveling techniques. Dancers from the DC region have been known for their excellence in leading, following and cool moves. The core values of DC style are: - Produce the next generation of hardcore social dancers - Promote the highest levels of social dance technique - Provide the highest level of training possible - Promote integrity, transparency, and honesty - Promote diversity and multiculturalism - Continue to grow and evolve The party begins with a special "Afro Cuban Rumba" workshop by Patricia Elisa Rivera (Patty) from Santo Domingo. Patty was trained in Afro Cuban folkloric dance in the USA, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Argentina, and Spain with various Master instructors Patty will teach how to dance with flavor, passion and look good when dancing salsa.
