Salsa Cubana & Rueda Intensive!

Learn something new this summer!! We've gotten feedback that there is a lot of interest in adding Rueda de Casino to the Tulsa dance scene! And even though its not Zouk, it is a style we both love and was a huge part of our early social dance years. So we're offering a workshop to get everyone started! Rueda de Casino is Cuban style salsa danced in a circle or "wheel" to a genre of music called Timba. A caller leads the group by calling out the names of the moves, with dancers constantly switching partners throughout the dance. Casino is typically done in sneakers or comfortable flats. It is a street dance, so *no special dance shoes* are required! Randyl taught rueda at OSU for 5 years, and led a number of student performances. Alison took to rueda shortly after getting into Latin social dancing and was a founding member of a rueda performance group called "Azucar" in Eugene, Oregon. Schedule: - Saturday July 27, 1-4pm: Casino basics, beginning partnerwork and transitions, begin learning patterns/moves - Sunday July 28, 1-4pm: Focus will be on adding as many moves/patterns as we can get through, and giving students who would like to an opportunity to learn to call the moves. >>> Social Dancing <<< If there isn't a Latin social in Tulsa Saturday, we can carpool to the iDance Latin social in OKC! >> Location << The workshop will take place at a home studio.
