Salsa dance courses in Cuba. Get the real Cuban feeling. We have held these courses since 1998, and we have clients who come back every year to relive the Cuban feeling. We have some of the best teachers in Cuba. They are all educated from the National school of dance in Cuba. Every student gets a Cuban dance partner. We offer all levels: beginners, intermediate and advance. Our classes are for singles, guys, girls, ladies, men and couples. If you can’t travel on the dates indicated, please let us know, and we can create a program for you at the time you want at the dance school. The courses are from one week and up to 5 years. You can have a look under the menu ”individual programs”. If you come from the U.S., it is also possible to attend. When you buy your plane ticket, they can help and guide you about the arrival to Cuba. You do not get a stamp in your passport. U.S customers can transfer the money for the courses directly to our paypal account. All others have to do a bank transfer. The dance course starts on Monday morning. You decide yourself the out and return date. Please notice that it is also possible to extend your stay and pay a bit extra. The dances taught in this program are: Salsa, Son, Rueda de Casino, Mambo, Cha Cha Cha, Rumba and Afro Cuban dance. Introduction: The courses are arranged by the Danish/Cuban Friendship Society of Cuban Arts Cuban Culture Club in cooperation with a big Cuban organisation. Each dance course lasts 10 days and is held at the Hotel Kohly. You will stay at Hotel Kohly, which is located approximately 10 min. in a taxi from old Havana. Coordination: The courses in Cuba are coordinated by Stine Ortvad, a professional dancer from Denmark. Stine Ortvad has lived in Cuba for 5 years. This long-term stay gave her a unique insight into Cuban culture. Stine Ortvad graduated from Escuela Nacional de Arte (ENA) in Havana and has taught salsa for more than 20 years. Tuition: The classes are divided into different levels depending on the ability and experience of the participants. They include salsa, rueda de casino, son, mambo, cha cha cha and rumba. Instrumental courses can also be arranged to suit your needs. The schedule: Monday-Friday from 9:30-13:30 9:30-10:30: Son, Mambo, Cha Cha Cha, Rumba and afro Cuban dance. 10:30-12:00: Salsa couples dancing Lunch break: 12:00-12:30 10:30-12:00: Rueda de Casino. All students receive an official diploma from Escuela Nacional de Arte. The diplomas will be handed out at an informal ceremony where the participants also get the chance to show off their newfound skills, if they like! The course also include: Guided tour to Old Havana, a visit to the national dance school, a visit where you will see the Cuban dancers do there practice at the national cabaret Tropicana, a salsa concert and a big salsa party at the hotel. Accommodation: In the duration of the course, all participants stay in a 3 star hotel, where breakfast and dinner is included. All rooms have a bathroom. Lunch is available at reasonable prices. The hotel is located 10 minutes by taxi from old Havana in an atmospheric residential street, fringed with tropical vegetation such as mangrove trees. It is possible to stay in the hotel before and after the course. The hotel has a swimming pool, a fitness center, a tennis field, a pool bar, and a "Business Centre" which makes it possible to send and receive faxes and e-mails for a small fee and make overseas phone calls. A few blocks away you can find a bank, where it is possible to use major credit cards (with a maximum of 200 cuc per day, so it would be advisable to bring cash also). Valuables should be deposited in a safety box in your hotel room. The hotel: Hotel Kohly, Ave. 49-Ay 36, Reparto Kohly, Havana. Prices in 2016-2017: Two weeks (14 nights with 10 days of classes) cost 1000 Euro, plus extra 150 euro, if you like a single room. You can only have a double room if you have some to share with. Single room supplement have to be payed to our guide in Cuba on the first day One week (7 nights with 5 days of classes ) cost 500 euro, plus extra 75 euro, if you like a single room. All extra nights in the hotel cost 40 euro (two meals included), and 30 euro in a double room. You have to book it all in advance. You also have to pay tips to the Cuban dance partner. The tips for two weeks is 150 euros and 75 euros for one week. It has to be paid the last day of class, in cash to your partner. The afternoons/evenings activity’s the first week will be: A city tour around old Havana, one salsa concert together with all the Cuban dances and instructors, a visit where you will see the Cuban dancers rehearse at the national dance school and a big party at the hotel. This activates you have to pay all together the first day to our guide en Cuba, and the total cost will be 100 euros When you sign up, you will get a invoice of 1000 o 500 euros (7 o 14 nights) the rest have to be payed cash in Cuba. As the classes takes place between 9:30 am and 1:30 pm. That leaves time to take extra classes if you like.
