ABOUT THE TEACHERS Nicolai Vigneswaren is one of the original Salsa dancers, teachers and DJs in the UK and has gained much love, respect and popularity throughout his 30 year salsa career. Based in Leeds for most of his salsa career, he has been instrumental in helping the scene develop all over the north, from Newcastle to Derby and Liverpool to Hull. Nicolai has regularly worked all over the UK and abroad. He is now based in Reading where he teaches regularly... as well as doing classes and workshops at various events nationally and internationally. Get ready for lots of dances and hugs people!!! Fred Garland - Artistic Director of Tenfoot Dance Company, dancer, movement director, choreographer and costume designer; she has studied dance from the age of 3 years. Skilled in many dance genres from Ballet/Tap and Contemporary to the beautiful Latino and Angolan forms of Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba. Community involvement addressing social issues has brought Fred into teaching dance for a charity organization that represents the needs and concerns of abused and vulnerable women as well as working with people with learning, physical and mental disabilities. She also teaches a dance class for those affected by Parkinson's. Fred loves to impart the knowledge she has acquired over the years and runs weekly classes and individual tuition as well as monthly workshops. She frequently makes guest teaching appearances and performing at several prestigious events, congresses and festivals around the UK, and she has worked together with Nicolai at various events over several years. Dancers will benefit immensely from her sharing her skills with you. THE CHOSEN CHARITIES Grace House is a Sunderland based charity working across the North East, providing support to disabled children, young people and their families. They offer support to the whole family, as well as the young people who go to them for a short break. Pakistan Floods Appeal. SCHEDULE OF EVENT 7:45pm - Beginner's Salsa (cross body) 8:35pm - Improver's Salsa (cross body) 9:15pm - Social dancing and party until midnight with a mix of music by DJ Pablito SUGGESTED DONATION £10 - PAY ON THE DOOR ​THE VENUE Toby Carvery Barnes Park (Function Room) Durham Road Sunderland SR2 7RB 20 minutes from Durham 35 minutes from Middlesbrough 40 minutes from Darlington There is a 42 feet x 16 feet sprung dance floor and a lovely bar area adjoining the main dance area. Parking is free but it is monitored so you must enter your registration number via the screen in the bar. If you stay after midnight then please re-enter your details to avoid a fine. COVID SAFETY 1) Please do a lateral flow test on the day of the event. 2) Please do not attend if you are feeling unwell ie, a high temperature, a new continuous cough, a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste. 3) It is your choice if you wish to wear a mask and if you want to switch partners or stay in a partner bubble. 4) Please use the hand sanitisers available on site or bring your own. 5) It is a massive room so there is plenty of space, and there is a large bar area adjoining the dance floor. There are plenty of windows which can be opened if needed.
