Details below… see you Wednesday! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * GUATEMALA BENEFIT You may have heard about the Fuego Volcano eruptions in Guatemala last Sunday and Monday, its deadliest series of eruptions in over a century. At least 109 people have died from the volcanic eruptions and over 2 million have been affected. The U.S.-backed President of Guatemala, Jimmy Morales, has said the government will not be providing additional aid for the victims. Reportedly, the government also refused to evacuate residents despite warnings prior to the eruption. This Wednesday June 13th, Agava Restaurant will be hosting a #FuerzaGuatemala Fundraiser in which a portion of flatbread and drink sales during happy hour and through Salsa Night will go towards community-led relief and recovery efforts for victims of the Fuego Volcano disaster in Guatemala through SERES. Please come out especially during happy hour (3-6 PM) when $5 from every flatbread pizza and $1 from select drink specials will go towards this cause! Donations from drink specials will continue through the evening and into Salsa Night (10 PM - 1AM). Donations will be collected and part of door proceeds will also be donated. Please spread the word within your networks about this event and even if you are unable to make it, you can contribute by making a donation to several reputable organizations such as SERES or CARE Guatemala through their websites, specifying that your donation should go towards Fuego Volcano relief efforts.
