Salsa on-1 Workshops with Carlos & Elysia Brisbane

Join national Salsa champions Carlos and Elysia for six immersive Salsa on-1 workshops suitable for Salsa dancers of "improver" (level 2-ish) to "advanced" (level 5-ish) experience levels. Elysia Baker is one of Australia’s most formidable Latin Dancer-Creative's. An internationally recognised Latin dancer, competitor, judge, coach and small business owner of Melbourne dance school La Encantada Collective, ELLA Dance Retreat and director of Rumbia Festival of Latin Dance. Carlos Veron is the 2020 Vice-World Champion Professional Male Soloist in the World Salsa Summit. He is also Argentinian National Champion and was a finalist in both the World Salsa Summit USA and Puerto Rico Salsa Open competitions. Elysia is the current Australian Salsa Champion with dance partner Carlos Veron and ranked 2nd in the world in the professional Cha Cha at the World Salsa Summit, USA 2018. Come and learn from two of the best Salsa instructors in Australia as they visit Dance Culture in Brisbane. ** Friday 25th May Workshops (suitable Improver, Intermediate and Advanced dancers) ** 6:30pm - 9:30pm (3 hours) Salsa on1 Immersion Day 1 - The art and science of connection in Salsa ** Saturday 26th May Workshops (suitable for Improver, Intermediate and Advanced dancers) ** 2:00pm - 5:30pm (3 hours + breaks) Salsa on1 Immersion Day 2 - Creating contrast and flow with movement in Salsa Our Latin Utopia Salsa & Bachata party will also be held the evening of Saturday 26th May. ** Do I need to bring a partner? ** No. Most of the focus of these workshops will be on partnered Salsa but, no, you do not need to bring a partner. We will limit ticket sales in order to ensure that the ratio of leaders to followers is as even as possible. ** Are these suitable for me? ** These Salsa workshops are suitable for Salsa dancers with at least some experience with Salsa on-1. If you know how to lead or follow at least Simple Right Turns, Simple Left Turns and Progressive Left Turns (aka Inline Turns), you'll be able to keep up and benefit from these workshops. ** Investment ** For this weekend of workshops with these world-class dancers, here is your investment in your dance education: Full pass (6 hours): $187 (equal to $31/hour). Best value. Day One or Day Two only (3 hours): $110 (equal to $37/hour). Enrolments will close when the workshops are full. ** Can I just attend one hour? ** Sorry, we cannot offer that. Please understand that for us to give you access to artists of this calibre the expenses involved are considerable. Expenses include flights, accommodation, teaching pay for two national champions, food, air-conditioned studio, marketing, additional staffing and GST.
