Salsa On2 – Timing & Musicality for Salsa On1 Dancers With McCoy and Jessie Location: New City Brewery, 180 Pleasant St, Rear #12, Easthampton, MA Cost: $15 per person This workshop series is designed to help Salsa On1 dancers learn Salsa On2 by using what they already know, with a focus on timing, musicality, and confidence on the social dance floor. If you don’t even know what we mean by “On1” and “On2”, that’s ok! You’re not alone. On1 and On2 describe how dancers connect their steps to the Salsa music. Dancing On1 means stepping with the most obvious beat, while dancing On2 shifts that timing to match a different part of the rhythm — without changing the basic movements. If you’ve ever been asked by a dance partner if you want to dance on 1 or on 2, that’s what they’re referring to. This workshop will help you answer that question confidently! Rather than relearning everything from scratch, we show dancers how to shift their timing to On2 while keeping familiar footwork and movement patterns, making the transition feel natural and accessible. Each class is structured in two parts: • First 20 minutes: We focus on On2 timing, rhythm awareness, and musicality, helping dancers feel where the music lands and how to rest their weight with the rhythm. • Second half of class: We apply that timing to a practical turn pattern you can use immediately in social dancing. This format allows dancers to drop in for any class in the 3-week series, making it easy for walk-ins while still rewarding dancers who attend multiple classes. No partner required. Some experience will help but not required!
