About this Event
Over the past two years we’ve had to adapt to many changes in our daily lives. And as dancers, one of the most important has been adapting to new environments to dance in!
But with all of this adapting going on, why do so many of us continue to dance the same way no matter what type of dance floor we’re on?
In this 2-day Seminar, we’ll attempt to remedy this by exploring different types of dance settings and begin learning how to sharpen our awareness and tailor our dancing to suit each one!
We'll be covering topics such as:
* Lead and follow footwork & drills
* The stage VS the dancefloor
* Condensing the footprint of a pattern
* Traveling the dance floor: back spot and left spot turns
* Dancing without turns!
* Adjusting our basic step to save space
* Spinning technique for multiple turns
* Dealing with a bad/dangerous floors (fast or slow)
* Adjusting for height differences
* Managing especially fast music…
And much more!
Whether you’re a lead, follow, or both, developing sensitivity and flexibility to the environment and dance floor is a necessary skill when dancing with or without a partner.
This seminar aims to help start this process and offer concepts to further refine it!
