About this Event

El Paso Ballroom Workshop – Limited Edition Workshop: Salsa La Clave Do you dance salsa but struggle to hear the clave? That can be fixed — in just two hours. The clave is the heartbeat of the music. You can dance without it, but you can’t truly connect to the rhythm. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to identify it, feel it, and apply it across all four beats of the measure — On1, On2, On3, and On4 — an essential skill most dancers never consciously develop. And you won’t just learn it — you’ll experience it. This workshop features a live musician, bringing the rhythm to life with congas, timbales, and clave in real time. No recordings. No empty theory. Just real music and real connection, so you can clearly understand where your movement fits within each beat. What you’ll walk away with: • The ability to hear and identify different types of clave: Son, Rumba, 2-3, and 3-2 • A clear understanding of how to mark every beat — On1, On2, On3, and On4 • Guided practice with live percussion: congas, timbales, and clave • A deeper musical connection that will transform the way you dance Workshop Details: Intensive Workshop · Only 20 spots available Live Musician · All levels welcome $30 in advance · $35 at the door 📲 Reserve your spot now — space is limited 📞 Call Joanie Garcia: (915) 585-0090 Instructor: Master Eddy Zayas With over 35 years of experience in dance and pedagogy, Eddy Zayas is a graduate of the Cuban School of Arts and a specialist in Afro-Cuban and popular dances, including Son Montuno, Cha-cha-cha, Mambo, Danzón, and Salsa.
