We will continue with our classes on Mondays at Kanopy. Also remember that soon there will be auditions for a differents dance groups . So people who want to participate are outstanding! JULY 18 (SATURDAY) Dandomambo brings a unique and Cristina Zavala Del Dominguez company director of Descarga Caribe from Chicago. Do not miss the opportunity to learn from some of the best companies of the salsa industry! workshops and private classes available. 5PM.Lady Style with Cristina Zavala 6PM. ALL WORKSHOPS AT KANOPY DANCE STUDIO (341 STATE STREET) Cristina Zavala has had Salsa / Mambo in her heart as long as she can remember. It was only until 6 years ago that she began to take her development as a dancer more seriously when she accepted an open invitation form Sekou McMillen to be a founding member of the Caribbean Dance Company download. Through the complex and inventive choreographies that the group became known for, Cristina developed into one of the principle female dancers in the company and eventually became the Director of the traveling partner, Sekou McMillan, as they traveled the world representing the group as well as themselves . While forced relocation to their successful partnership to come to an end, she has now begun to find a new joy in dancing with her current partner, Rodrigo Cortazar, and is eager to adapt to the changes in style and presentation. Cristina is also a Season Salsa instructor in the Chicago scene and one of the truly recognize Homegrown stars to emerge from Chicago. Del Dominguez has been dancing Salsa / Mambo for almost 7 years and is the current director of the Caribbean Dance Company download. Originally, he was the very first member of the group when it was established in 2002 by Sekou McMillan. Having been there since day one, Del was, along with Sekou male dancer in principle to the company and got to travel around the world performing and teaching the company's unique brand of Salsa / Mambo which is accent by Afro-Cuban movements and influences of Jazz . Currently, the Ballroom has become a certified instructor and has aspirations to be a competitive ballroom dancer. He is also the first instructor of the On2 style in Chicago with the longest running NY On2 style class in the city which has produced several future Caribbean Download Company members. Bringing along his knowledge of Ballroom along with his previous training, the hopes to keep bettering himself and ushering a new era for Descraga Caribbean Dance Company.
