Salsa Workshops with Jaime Jesus & Mary-Grace Brisbane

Join Salsa champions Jaime Jesus & Mary-Grace (visiting from Latin Dance Australia) for immersive open-level, concept-based Salsa on-1 workshops suitable for all Salsa dancers of an"Improver" to "Advanced" experience level. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from two of Australia's most accomplished Salsa dancers to upskill your own dancing. Whatever your experience level, these concept-based workshops will layer-in new ideas and understandings that will elevate your dancing and enjoyment. These workshops will explore: * How to lead and follow for style, in a way that allows both leader and follower to contribute to musical expression * Salsa music structure and how to better express what is happening in the music * How to use flow and movement to improvise and create beyond what you've learned in-class * How to succeed with Salsa spins Jaime Jesus and Mary-Grace are world-renowned instructors and performers who have earned multiple national titles. Jaime has also choreographed for the TV show Dancing with the Stars and has been recognised five times globally (London, India, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Australia) for his outstanding contribution to the world of Latin Dance. Mary-Grace is a phenomenal dancer with a fierce on-stage presence and a flawless, adaptable connection on the social dance floor. You will change partners during the workshops. You do not need to enrol with a partner. Please note that the sale of Follower passes often closes early so that we can keep the Leader/Follower ratio as even as possible. ** Friday 22nd March Workshops (suitable for Improvers to Advanced dancers) ** 6:30pm - 7:30pm Leading and following for style: Creating opportunities for followers to style/contribute to the expression of the music 7:45pm - 8:45pm Salsa music structure and musical elements for the social floor ** Saturday 23rd March Workshops (suitable for Improvers to Advanced dancers) ** 3:00pm - 4:00pm How to social dance spontaneously & creatively (You don't always have to rely on learned moves because we can also use flow and movement to create as we go) 4:15pm - 5:15pm Succeeding with Salsa Spins There will also be a Latin Utopia party (Easter edition) from 8pm on Saturday 23rd March at which Jaime and Mary-Grace will perform. Please note that you are very much welcome and encouraged to attend but that the full pass does not include entry to the party. ** Are these suitable for me? ** These open-level, concept-based Salsa workshops are suitable for all Salsa on-1 dancers who can lead or follow at least: basic step, simple right turns, simple left turns and cross body lead. ** Investment ** For this weekend of workshops with these world-class instructors, here is your investment in your dance education: Full pass (4 hours): $140 (equal to $35/hour) Enrolments will close when the workshops are full. ** Where ** These workshops will be held at Dance Culture, 1st Floor, 474 Ipswich Road, Annerley.
