Imagine two dancers facing each other, a randomly selected Salsa song is played (from a published playlist), and each dancer is given a certain length of time to dance to that song and impress the judges with their technique and musicality. Attending a Salsanama class or course is beneficial to all Salsa dancers whether they intend to battle or not. It provides a means of improving one's solo Salsa skills and overall musicality. ** Will I have to battle in front of the class? ** At Dance Culture we will encourage you to go beyond your comfort zone but we will never force you to do anything that you don't want to do. You will have opportunities during the course to battle in front of the rest of the class who will be cheering you on. But you don't have to. There will be times where you will be paired up with one other person at a time and you will "battle" each other but in reality you will be encouraging and supporting each other during such exercises. ** How will this help my Salsa? ** Regardless of your level of experience with Salsa, Salsanama training typically improves one's footwork, body movement and musicality. ** Can I do the training even if I'm not attending DouDouLe or participating in the DouDouLe dance battle? ** This course has been timed to lead up to DouDouLe Latin Dance Camp which includes a dance battle event but you can definitely do the course without attending DouDouLe. ** Can you show me what a Salsanama battle looks like? ** Yes, here is an example of its creator Fernando Sosa demonstrating Salsanama while here in Australia. What you will see in this video is very advanced but please remember that everyone starts as beginners. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ta0MRyrBAeA ** How do I enrol in the 8 week course? ** Please click the "GET TICKETS" button. This course is a discounted "Add-On" for those with existing Dance Culture memberships. Non-members can either sign up to be a member and enjoy the benefits of our regular weekly classes or simply pay the full fee for the course: Non-members fee for the 8-week course: $176 for Salsanama with Cha Cha as an optional bonus course Members "add-on" fee for the 8-week course: $88 for Salsanama with Cha Cha as an optional bonus course (half-price) ** Can I become a member and get the discounted price? ** Absolutely. You will need to maintain your membership for at least the 8 weeks of the course. Please check the timetable on the website for class times and membership pricing options. To actually sign up please head to https://billing.danceculture.com.au/membership Important: Do please note that to attend any class above Level 2 requires permission from a Dance Culture instructor. That permission can be gained by attending a Level 2 class and then asking the instructor if you can move up. Alternatively you can book a private lesson. If you attend a Level 3, 4 or 5 class without prior permission (or if you arrive significantly late for the class) you may be asked to sit and watch. This is to protect the quality of the class for those who have worked hard to reach that level. ** Where are these classes/courses held? ** All Dance Culture classes and courses are held in our studio at 1st floor, 474 Ipswich Road, Annerley. The door to the studio can be found between Yesterday's Thrift Shop and Lifeline's Vintage Revival shop, across from 99 Bikes. We are right on the intersection of Ipswich Road and Annerley Road. ** Where can I park? ** There is parking right outside the studio (but check the signage as it becomes a clearway at certain times). There is also normally plenty of parking down Dudley Street East. ** Further questions? ** If you have any questions please talk to school director James Quinn-Hawtin by emailing [email protected]
