Samba + Afro Workshops with Egili Oliveira

We are absolutely thrilled to present for the 1st time in Toronto a 4-hour intensive workshop in Samba and Afro-Samba with no other than Egili Oliveira, directly from Brazil! Monday, September 25th, 7:30-9:45pm Wednesday, September 27th, 7:30-9:45pm She has been a fixture in the global and Rio de Janeiro samba scene for many years, notably competing in the Rainha do Carnaval competitions as a finalist in 2015, 2016, and again in 2023. She is also a highly-celebrated Queen of the Drums (Rainha da Bateria) for her samba school, Vigário Geral. This intensive will introduce you to the roots of samba, where Egili will be helping everyone experience Afro Brazilian dance through rhythms and movements while explaining how they influence the grace and power of your samba. Students will learn how to harness their own power, poise, and grace and train with Egili as if they were preparing to parade down the Sapucaí themselves!
