We are super excited to present another amazing workshop with the incredible Sashya from Rhythm Brazil, Australia's premier Brazilian entertainment company 💚 This Sunday 10-11am at our new location, cost is just $35 per person, everyone is welcome! PASSISTA STYLE WORKSHOP WITH SASHYA from Rhythm Brazil 💚 (Intermediate - Advanced level) Based on Passista technique straight from the Escolas de Sambas in Rio. The focus is on the essence of Passista Samba movements, fast footwork and slow to fast transitions, choreography combinations and desfilando (parading). The workshop will also focus on freestyle with an emphasis on musicality and performance drills working individually and as a team. SASHYA JAY - BIO Director / Head Instructor Sashya Jay Brito is an internationally acclaimed performing artist, creative director, choreographer and Brazilian Samba Instructor. Officially accredited by Carlinhos Salgueiro to teach his signature style, Passista for Império Serrano, Creative Director of Samba Internacional and Co-Founder of Rhythm Brazil. With over a decade of experience, Sashya’s forte in Brazilian Samba has been crystallised through immersing herself in the culture and training with Brazil’s top Samba Queens, Passistas and choreographers. She is an official Passista for one of Rio’s top Samba schools, Império Serrano, and parades annually in Rio Carnaval. Sashya is one of Australia’s most prominent faces of Brazilian Samba culture. She regularly features in the national media and is the go-to for major Brazilian events. Sashya has performed alongside the likes of Carlinhos Salgueiro, Mangueira’s Rainha da Bateria (Samba Queen) Evelyn Bastos, Salgueiro’s Top Passista Kellyn Rosa, Sergio Mendes, Jason Derulo, James Arthur, Todd McKenney and Chong Lim. Sashya has choreographed an impressive array of stage shows as well as live and televised performances. She was the choreographer and principal dancer for the float “Paulini and Rhythm Brazil” winning the “Best Choreography” award at the Sydney Mardi Gras 2015 and Runner Up the following year. In 2016, Sashya also choreographed the half-time performance for the Cronulla Sharks “Rio Round” featuring The Sharks Mermaids and Rhythm Brazil samba dancers. Sashya is one of only four dancers worldwide and the only Samba instructor in Australia officially accredited by Carlinhos Salgueiro (Rio’s foremost choreographer and world famous “King of Samba”) to teach his signature technique. In February 2018, Sashya will also have the honour of teaching Samba at the first ever Brasil Samba Congress held in Rio de Janeiro. She runs regular courses and workshops across Australia and maintains a strong student following. Sashya is also renowned for her extensive background as a tour manager working artists such as Coldplay, Will.I.Am, The Roots, Pharrell Williams, John Legend, Kanye West and U2. LATEST PROJECT Samba Internacional has received high praise from the international Samba community and industry leaders in Brasil. It fosters integrity and promotes the authenticity of Brazilian Samba and carnaval culture on an international level. The project features interviews with respected samba aficionados as well as everyday day people from communities across Brasil. The core focus is samba education and training, which includes annual tours to Brasil that allow people from around the world to have an authentic experience of carnaval and Brazilian Samba culture at a grassroots level.
