Samba Syndrom 2018

Drumming and dancing like at the Carneval in Rio, playing music like in Bahia or São Paulo – the Academy of Music Berlin always twists at the end of September into an island of brazilian joy of life. We invite professionals, beginners and samba-enthusiasts of the international and national samba scene to explore the fire and diversity of brazilian music in numerous workshops with samba teachers from Brazil, Europe and Germany. This year we are also on new paths: What does Taiko drumming have to do with samba? First of all, little or nothing! However, it is an expression of the broader view that Samba Syndrom is looking for. The same applies with the new format of half-day insights into varieties of Musica Popular Brasilieira. Wir laden Profis, Anfänger und Interessierte ein, in zahlreichen Workshops von Sambalehrern/innen aus Brasilien, dem europäischen Ausland und der bundesrepublikanischen Szene, das Feuer und die Vielfalt brasilianischer Musik live zu erleben! In diesem Jahr sind wir auch auf neuen Pfaden unterwegs: Was hat Taiko-Trommeln mit Samba zu tun? Erst einmal wenig bis gar nichts! Es ist jedoch Ausdruck dafür, den Blick beim Samba Syndrom über den Tellerrand hinaus zu wagen. Gleiches gilt, wenn wir ein neues Format etablieren und halbtägige Einblicke in Spielarten der Musica Popular Brasilieira ermöglichen.
