Maggie is a 20-year practitioner and teacher of White Crane Silat, a flowing kung-fu movement system that begins and ends with the breath. In practice we balance the body with movements that are structured but flowing; slide, roll and make friends with the floor; awaken the nerves for feeling/contact; and explore the compassionate art of physical boundaries from a martial perspective. Our nature-inspired movements are novel, intentional, functional… and fun! Producing and playing for raves in Kyoto, Japan in the 80s led to exploring dance as meditation in the Osho ashram in Pune, India for 7 years. Committed to a life of exploring dance as a path to Presence, Heeraa founded Ecstatic Dance Hawaii in Honolulu, building and leading the community for over 12 years.
