Australian Samba Professora/Passista/Choreographer SASHYA JAY will be teaching a 2-hour intensive in San Diego! ONE DAY ONLY! A very unique opportunity to learn from the Creative Director of Rio Project, Samba International and the Australia Samba Congress. Sashya is an official passista for 3 of Rio's top samba schools: Paraiso do Tuiuti, Academicos do Salgueiro and Imperio Serrano, parading annually in the elite division of Rio Carnaval. Sashya is one of only 4 artists worldwide officially accredited by Carlinhos Salgueiro (Rio’s famous King of Samba) to teach his signature style. She is amongst the stellar line-up of Samba Instructors at the annual Brasil Samba Congress in Rio and the International Samba Congress in Los Angeles. She runs regular courses and teaches workshops across Australia and internationally. Sashya has featured at major Brazilian events in Australia for over a decade, with nationally televised appearances and shows such as The X Factor. She has also performed with renowned artists such as Carlinhos Salgueiro, Evelyn Bastos, Kellyn Rosa, Sergio Mendes, Jason Derulo, James Arthur, Todd McKenney and Chong Lim. BRAZILIAN APPREARANCES INCLUDE: Globo Television (Brasil’s largest national TV network) interview and feature on Samba Internacional. Globo Television interview and feature on Paraiso do Tuiuit for Rio Carnaval 2018. Dancing With The Stars, Brasil filmed at Imperio Serrano in February 2018. Rio Carnaval Champions parade 2018 with Paraiso do Tuiuti and Salgueiro. Performances at the top league Samba schools including Salgueiro, Tuiuti, Imperio Serrano, Portela and Mocidade in 2017 and 2018.  CURRENT PROJECTS: Samba Internacional Launched in 2016, Samba Internactional is an organisation that fosters the integrity of Brazilian Samba and carnaval culture globally through tours to Rio, a Samba school and Vlog. The Rio carnaval tours give participants from around the world the opportunity to have an authentic, grassroots experience of Samba and carnaval culture. Based in Sydney, Australia and New York City, the Samba School provides cultural classes and workshops in Brazilian dance. Samba International’s Vlog and social media networks offer valuable English language access to information, education and interviews with artists, aficionados and Brazilian locals directly from the source of the culture. Samba Internacional has received high praise from the global Samba community and industry leaders in Brasil for its groundbreaking work. Australia Samba Congress The inaugural Australia Samba Congress (April 2018) is a groundbreaking event for Brazilian arts and culture. The first event of its kind in Australia, the ASC is part of an international series of congress events in Brasil, the USA and Canada. RIO PROJEKT Rio Projekt, is a collective of international artists and official Passistas from Rio’s top Samba league. Inspired by Sashya’s intensive work in Brazil, as an ensemble Rio Projekt is aligned with the pulse of Rio’s ever evolving artistic culture, from the rawness of the streets to the glamour of carnaval. Sashya is also renowned for her extensive background in the music industry and as a promoter and tour manager working with artists such as Coldplay, Will.I.Am, The Roots, Pharrell Williams, John Legend, Kanye West, Beck, De La Soul, Jurassic 5 and U2 to name a few.
