About this Event

With this score series we dive into playfulness and solemnity as well. Going into the freedom of improvised movement while following very specific and rigorous focuses and structures. For this first meeting in this lab Series we will explore Barbara Dilley's "Contemplative Dance Practice". It brings together dance and meditation practices in a simple and very sweet way. The score is simple, yet profound. It involves three stages, contemplation, personal movement, shared movement. The way we will explore it is following this time structure: 15' Opening circle, sharing, explanation, questions. 15' Sitting contemplation. 15' Personal movement, Warm up. 25' Shared movement, Open space. 10' Sitting contemplation. 15' Shared movement, Open space. 10' Winding down 15' Closing circle, reflections, sharing. "Explore your way of bringing meditation awareness into movement in this very moment…It’s time for self-care, research, and courting the unexpected. Wait for sudden images and sensations to surprise you, to move you. Follow them. Develop them. And rest often. Encourage kinesthetic delight.” Barbara Dilley
