It is open to anyone interested in performing or those who want to deepen their improvisation skills and connect with others through movement. We will begin by connecting with our bodies and then move into group explorations, learning to embrace the process of getting lost. Composition will serve as a way to mediate our experiences. Our activities will range from hands-on compositional practice to examining deeper themes like curiosity, vulnerability, commitment, and presence. We'll foster an atmosphere of exploration, avoiding quick judgments or evaluations. We will learn as much from observing one another as we do from performing. While we focus on composition and intangible elements, we will also move beyond the pressure of "performing" by practicing the art of witnessing. Key themes include: • Sourcing : Connecting with your body and spontaneous impulses • Ensemble States: Engaging in tuning exercises and both composition and non-composition • Scores : Frameworks for our practice • Aesthetics : Exploring how we observe movement. We'll explore the physics and body awareness that enable freedom of flight and expression, blending enjoyment with technique. In this workshop, we'll cover aerial elements of contact improvisation, such as flying, catching, landing, and fluid acrobatics. Everyone will progress at their own pace, emphasizing safety and trust within the group. We'll practice incorporating flying and acrobatics into our contact work to enhance our connections.
