GUESTS:
Jean Veloz
Jean Phelps Veloz, the icon of the Hollywood-Style Lindy to new generations of swing dancers, provides a living bridge from the Los Angeles dance scene of the 1940’s to the present-day Lindy Hop revival that has swept the United States and the rest of the world since the late 1990’s.
She had made appearances at Lindy Hop events around the world including Marcus and Barbl’s Rock that Swing in Munich, Germany, the Virginia State Open; Gottaswing’s in Washington DC’s annual Groovie Movie event, Camp Hollywood, Herrang Dance Camp and many many more.
Skye Humphries
Since 1999 Skye has taught wherever Lindy Hop is danced- from national weekends to international dance camps. He was a founding member of some the most influential modern Lindy Hop troupes- including Minnie’s Moochers, Mad Dog, and the Silver Shadows. Skye has also won some of Lindy Hops most prestigious competitions- including the 2002 World Lindy Hop Championships in Stockholm. This involvement with Lindy Hop sparked his wider interest in America’s history and cultural heritage- leading him to pursue American Studies at The George Washington University where he received his master’s degree in 2007.
Frida Segerdhal
Since the age of 9 Frida started competing in Double Bugg and Boogie Woogie and although she was a champion at both, she hungered for more. When she was 15 she attended Herrang Dance Camp and fell in love with Lindy Hop. In no time, she was asked to join the world's foremost jazz dance company, the Rhythm Hot Shots. She has performed and taught at all ends of the world. In addition to her performance skill, many have rated Frida as one of the best social dancers in the world. Frida is still a member of the Harlem Hot Shots and now runs the famous Lindy Hop dance camp that she first attended back when she was 15, The Herrang Dance Camp in Sweden.
Remy Kouakou Kouamé
World Champions in Boogie Woogie 2006, Remy has been dancing since he was a little kid. Remy's dance style is characterised by a lot of energy, a mixture of several dance styles as well as a "certain piece of spice" given by their personality. For him, the most important things in Swing dances are : how to lead and follow (of course) but most of all "having fun", "having good times" and express instead of impress!!! He will teach with his partner, Sarrah Montban.
Remy is the choreographer of the infamous carribean shim sham! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENP5_WnAuL0
