About this Event

Hola! Seattle tangueros and tangueras! ♥️ Mark your calendar to welcome the season of winds and scarlet leaves with this fabulous opportunity to elaborate your tango with our dear friend Dominic Bridge from Portland! 🎉 As many of us know, Dominic has been exploring the world of Argentine Tango for an extensive period of time through his tango journey. He's been collecting delightful knowledge from his precious learning experience as well as developed creative ideas. He is excited to share some of them with us in Seattle! We will also attend all the milongas after the classes, PLUS premilonga class and performance by Dominic & Loelle at Tango Barn on Sunday, Sep. 24th! Dominic will be also available for private lessons! Please join us and let's make a party! 💃🏻🕺 ----------Intensive Schedule---------- Friday, September 22, 2023 7:00 - 8:30 pm: The Art of Embracing Saturday, September 23, 2023 1:00 - 2:30 pm: Las Caderas 2:45 - 4:15 pm: Sacada! 4:30 - 6:00 pm: E = mc^tango Sunday, September 24, 2023 1:00 - 2:30 pm: Milonguero’s Delight 2:45 - 4:15 pm: Colgadas Monday, September 25, 2023 7:30 - 9:00 pm: Make the Walk Great Again ----------Class Descriptions---------- Friday, September 22 7:00 - 8:30 pm: The Art of Embracing Our goal is to allow our embrace to change and flow according the present moment, emotion, and music. Here we shift our perspective on the tango embrace from that of a static object “el abrazo” to that of a continuous action of embracing. In addition, we will work on seamless transitions in and out of close-embrace and figures that necessitate these adjustments. *All-levels Saturday, September 23 1:00 - 2:30 pm: Las Caderas Continuing our focus on tactile sensitivity from The Art of Embracing, we build our precision in communicating and moving together while grounded. We will focus on leading and following from the hips, with an emphasis on rotations. With this technique one can find superhuman strength! *All-levels Saturday, September 23 2:45 - 4:15 pm: Sacada! Sacadas are some of the most widely-used steps in Tango Salon and are essential in building a wider vocabulary. By the end of this class you will not only understand how a sacada works, but will be able to explore their many combinations, as well as execute sacadas in the giro from a close embrace by sliding and rolling. *All-levels Saturday, September 23 4:30 - 6:00 pm: E = mc^tango Let’s look at how to harness powerful dynamics contained in small spaces. By implementing advanced navigation techniques for the crowded dance floor, we can still respect the dancers around us without holding back, even when blasting D’Arienzo. *All-levels Sunday, September 24 1:00 - 2:30 pm: Milonguero’s Delight Building upon our foundational work on Grounding… Musicality and technique for application in beautiful suspended movements perfect for musical sustains and romantic tangos. *All-levels Sunday, September 24 2:45 - 4:15 pm: Colgadas The long-lost art of colgadas… The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a colgada is a good guy with a colgada. Proper handling, stance, and safety for colgadas. *All-levels Monday, September 25 7:30 - 9:00 pm: Make the Walk Great Again (Drills Class) The walk—the quintessential defining movement of Tango. Everything about the dance is contained within, so let’s make it great! In this technique class we will practice solo as well as in couples. We will do drills, talk posture, weight placement, grounding, different pisadas, and musicality. *All-levels -------Milongas-------- Friday, September 22, 2023 - 8:30-12:30 OmCulture (2210 N Pacific St, Seattle, WA 98103) Saturday, September 23, 2023 - 8:30-12:00 Dance Underground (340 15th Ave E, Seattle, WA 98112) Sunday, September 24, 2023 - 5:00-9:00 La Garua (1714 18th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122) - 5:30-10:00 Tango Barn (27929 NE 100th st, Carnation WA 98014) ** 5:30-6:30 Pre-milonga class with Dominic & Loelle ** Performance Dominic Bridge & Loelle Lim Monday, September 25, 2023 - 9:00-12:30 China Harbor (2040 Westlake Ave N #28, Seattle, WA 98109) INTENSIVE SUITABLE FOR ALL LEVELS FAMILIAR WITH THE CROSS, OCHO & GIRO (MOLINETE) INTENSIVE LOCATIONS: Dance Underground (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) OmCulture (Monday) $30 FOR ONE WORKSHOP; $25 EACH FOR TWO TO SIX WORKSHOPS; $160 FOR WHOLE INTENSIVE (7 WORKSHOPS).
