About this Event

Every time we enter a Contact Improvisation jam, we bring something with us- intentions, expectations, curiosities, needs... Sometimes they're conscious Sometimes unconscious And often somewhere in between What happens when we intentionally choose something specific to explore... and then meet someone carrying a completely different intention? This happens naturally in every jam, but this playful experiment amplifies it, revealing unexpected dynamics, relationships, and possibilities inside the parctice ________ We'll explore different kinds of *scores; some technical, some relational, some playful, and some open enough to invite your own interpretation for the *score. *What is a score? A score is a simple prompt or framework that gives direction to an improvisation without determining the outcome Throughout the evening, you'll receive a series of Secret Missions. At the beginning of each round, everyone chooses a hidden mission and enters the jam with that intention. You'll know only your own mission-everyone else will be following a different one. When the bell rings, everyone receives a new mission, and a new exploration begins. How does a hidden intention change the way we move? What happens when different invisible scores meet? Can you sense what others are exploring? Join us for an evening of curiosity, playfulness, connection, and discovery Everyone is welcome, from complete beginners to experienced dancers! ________ New to Contact Improvisation or to the Friday sydney classes? Here's everything you need to know: Coming together to support the sharing, learning and delight of Contact Improvisation Dance, a team of local teachers and organisers offer this beginner-friendly event. Contact Improv (CI) is a study in relationship to others, and the dance is a chance to hone that with skill, movement and touch. With no set steps and no set leader, participants have the challenge and opportunity of practicing the widest possible range of dance moves, and to develop skills around presence, leading, following, weight sharing, fitness and flexibility. It's an utterly joyous practice, that we hope sparks great changes in your life - come along. ----- Class Price General Ticket: $30 Supported Ticket: $10 The 'supported' option is available for anyone who believes they require some extra help in attending.
