SF Balboa & Shag Practice: 12 8 19

Join us for a 2 hour Balboa and Shag practice. All Balboa and Shag enthusiasts from all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome! SHUFFLE AND SHAG WEEK: This practice will be part of the conclusion of the SF Shuffle and Shag Week. For full details, see https://www.facebook.com/sfshuffle Due to other events this week, we will be moving the practice ONE HOUR LATER than usual. LOCATION: LEVYdance studio, 19 Heron St., San Francisco, CA, 94103 TIME: 5 to 7 PM HOW TO ENTER: There is a door code, so you will need to knock on the door to be let in. Post in this event if you are at the door and nobody answers -- knocks aren't always audible from the practice area. PRICING: Drop-in pricing (Pay practice-by-practice): $10 per practice, paid by the end of that practice Month-by-Month pricing (For December): $30 for the month, paid by the end of the first practice of that month (Breaks down to $7.50/practice!) Payment can be paid in cash in-person or electronically: Paypal: [email protected] Venmo: @Tor-Helmer PRACTICE FORMAT: This is an open practice session without any formalized mini-lessons or guided practices. Practice members are of course free to lead any sessions they'd like or to form small groups on their own. Each person will receive 2 note cards upon joining the practice session. See below for how to use these 2 cards. 2 NOTE CARD LOGISTICS: When each person arrives at practice, upon checking in they will receive 2 note cards. Those cards represent two questions that they can ask of anyone else at the practice. The cards represent a social contract wherein anyone can ask anyone for advice, feedback, etc. Some example questions: * “Can you show me that variation you’re working on?” * “I like how you do ____ - can you give me one pointer on how you do it?” * “I’m working on _____. Would you be willing to work on it with me for 5 minutes?” If the person asked says “yes”, then they will accept your card and return it to the registration desk. People are not limited to 2 questions each, the goal is to provide an easier way for people to ask questions of people they may not know as well, and so providing a minimum of 2 questions that they are guaranteed to have answered. We would like to test this new structure out, and will collect feedback and iterate after we have had a chance to see how our community utilizes it.
