But what is the Balboa feel? Where does it come from and how can you find it with different partners? In this hour, we explore techniques for finding the ineffable “Balboa feel” and using it to create better dance experiences. Flooral Arrangements How you connect with the floor and use floor space helps distinguish your unique voice as a dancer. In this class, we will explore ways you can “use the floor” to create more dynamic variation in your movement and partnership. Rockin’ in Rhythm Dancing with the music is as important as dancing with your partner. Starting with the rhythms in a song, we will experiment with different ways to get in the groove and express yourself more fully. SHAG CLASSES Rhythm Changes You know the basic, now let’s break it! This class will focus on leading and following rhythm changes that will increase your ability to use the shag to your best advantage. Single, double, and triple times the fun! Musicality Time to plug in. Learn how to sync your styling and movement choices with the music, and discover room to play for both you and your partner. High Fashion Shag Never limit yourself darling! In this class we will compare and contrast some different regional styles of collegiate shag. Coordinate your style with your music, allowing the music to drive your choice. Acquire a shag style for every season.
