Throughout May we will be taking a deep dive into West Coast Swing! Whether you’ve never experienced WCS or you’ve dabbled in it previously it’ll be the ideal space for dancers to explore WCS and expand past the basics. Week 4: Coming soon! *𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘀!* Each week the fundamentals lesson will include the bare minimum you need to step out onto the dance floor as well as a specific concept and skill. His teachings are rooted in improvisation, connection, and musicality, breathing life into stories through movement. He seeks to build bridges between divergent communities through shared artistic language, which is how he found his home in Fusion. His Black-experience-centered philosophy sits at the heart of all of his and Pomona's lessons. Together, they create a clear, play-focused, and light-hearted teaching environment where students are often surprised with their own creative prowess. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐡 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐥 As a kiddo in Colorado, Leah DJed the Living Room for her sister and graduated to whole-house parties in the Pacific Northwest in 2010. She's since DJed for fusion and blues events across the U.S. and Europe. Leah curates sets that are luscious and heart-opening, transporting dancers from tender spaciousness to cipher-inducing, celebratory release. She enjoys learning the musical and cultural bridges between genres and drawing them out by drawing the songs together. She taps into the emotional and somatic longings of the room — gently cracking open the party like a glow stick. Currently based in Victorville, CA, she treasures the once familiar opportunity to connect with dance family in the big cities. 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐯𝐚 Natalie started her dance journey in 2016 with Waltz & Irish Ceili before stumbling upon Fusion Dancing. She has dabbled in a variety of other dances as well but continues to do Fusion, Waltz, and Irish Ceili the most. Natalie enjoys exploring the overlap of different dances because no matter how different the dances seem there’s always some similarities. 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐢 𝐍𝐚𝐲𝐮𝐧 Tali is a full-time dancer and performer with a passion for both solo and partner dance styles. While she has primarily taught and performed solo dance for almost 2 decades, she has delved deeper into partner dance over the past four years, starting with Lindy Hop and then Tango and Zouk. Tali believes that everyone can dance and views dance as a profound way to connect with ourselves and others. Currently, she teaches Zouk at Omni Studios, Pilates and Franklin method privately and numerous forms of solo dance.
