Practical tools to express yourself on the dance floor - come to all classes or drop-in if you canโt make all of them.
Discover your movement voice as a follower or leader, and leave with actual movements and strategies you can use in your dancing immediately. This series is about presence, agency, and conversation in partner dance, helping you express yourself confidently while connecting with your partner.
For followers:
* Learn to commit your weight to create freedom for expressive footwork, extensions, and embellishments.
* Explore balance, weight exchange, and intentional movement to communicate clearly.
* Practice being active and creative, responding to your partnerโs cues while maintaining your own presence.
* Learn to navigate disconnections gracefully, turning solo moments or pauses into purposeful, expressive opportunities.
For leaders:
* Provide a clear, confident foundation with purposeful, timely leads.
* Listen and collaborate, creating space for your followerโs expression.
* Respond to musical or movement cues, and recover connection smoothly when things donโt go as planned.
For everyone:
* A well-balanced dance conversation, where both partners contribute to the music, movement, and shared space.
* Greater confidence in your movement, presence, and ability to express yourself authentically.
Dancers can choose a primary role or switch roles throughout class, allowing everyone to explore both sides of the conversation and deepen their connection to the dance.

As a DJ my focus on any given evening is to tell a story. Every set I create is meant to be its own self-contained narrative arc, the building blocks of which are songs with complex lyrical content and/or varied instrumentality. I understand those are a lot of subjective terms, so linked below is a random sampling of songs I would play on a fusion floor that you might not have heard before. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7cFYrjwbhnYqaFSg1ikE5R?trackId=06r6PliBWKWsu5y7bRsXlG
Furthermore, on that profile is every fusion set I have played to date, in case you would like to research further into what my style is.

Jeannie Lin is a shapeshifter dancer who is able to effortlessly adapt, blend, articulate and draw from a myriad of different dance forms and experiences. Her early training included gymnastics, ballet, and modern dance, while her later years included formal study in over 30 styles of partner dance at the Ballroom Dance Teacher's Academy where she graduated with high honors. Now she happily resides in the worlds of fusion and argentine tango, where she weaves in her other dance styles together seamlessly, integrating concepts and creating hybrid movements with grace and fluidity. Recognized for her nuanced and effective teaching style, she's been invited to teach at fusion festivals and workshops across the US and internationally in Europe, Canada, and the UK. Now she lives in Los Angeles where she co-founded LA's first micro-fusion venue, Tiny Dancers, and is currently co-organizing for Angel City Fusion.
