Shag and Lindy Workshop

######## INSTRUCTOR BIOS############ NYC master shag instructor Tony Fraser and partner Jaime Shannon took the North American shag community by storm in 2010 when after just six weeks weeks of partnering, (and only six weeks of Jaime doing any partner dancing at all) they placed a solid third in the prestigious Hot Rhythm Holiday’s shag division in Austin Texas. Since then, they’ve performed, taught and competed all over the north east with their already legendary single rhythm style. They are the currently reigning Canadian Shag Dance champions. Teaching out of Dance Manhattan in NYC, Tony Fraser is a 15 year veteran of swing dancing, competition, coaching and teaching. He’s a best of breed technical instructor having taught workshops in shag, aerials and lindy all over North America. He’s been on television many times and is an ALHC and USOpen champion. Tony is the founder of the 212 Shag Masters professional dance troupe. Jaime Shannon acquired her B.A. in dance from Hofstra University in 2006. Since then, she has established her professional modern dance career by performing throughout the northeast and Colorado with such companies as Lauren Hale Dance, HalloHallo, Dance Cat-Alyst, Kelley Donovan and Dancers, and the Bronx Opera Company. As a swing dancer, Jaime is an assistant instructor at Dance Manhattan and a principle dancer in the 212 Shag Masters professional dance troupe. ######## CLASS INFORMATION ############ Saturday 11am Connection is the Coolest Starting from Lindy basics, this class will work on perfecting techniques necessary for Shag, Lindy, Partner Charleston, and Balboa. Better your dance, find you frame, learn your balance, and practice technique. 12:30pm Shag from the Beginning Taught in crash course format, this class will focus on traditional double shag including basic turns, step hop variations, connections, lead follow, and positioning. 3pm Shag Rhythms Single, double, triple, LDR, Quads, Evens and polyrhythms. This class will provide a background on the historical and modern rhythms used in Collegiate Shag. 4:30 Versatile Slides Learn some great slides to spice up your Lindy, Balboa, Shag, or Partner Charleston. Sunday 11am Brain Exploding Shag Vocabulary Tony and Jaime will blow your mind with as much shag vocabulary as time permits! 12:30pm Lindy Vocabulary Awesomeness Everyone knows swing outs, and turn variations, but what about the more unusual stuff? This class will introduce moves and patterns to surprise the crowd with pure awesomeness. 3pm Shag Musicality Learn to leverage rhythms, vocabulary, micro and macro musicality to make your shag audience-ready. 4:30pm Dips and Tricks For performances or the local jam circle, it's good to have some great tricks up your sleeve to set you apart. **Lunch Break each day from 1:30pm to 3pm Questions?
