Son on romanttista, salsaa rauhallisempaa ja se eroaa salsasta mm. askeleiden rytmityksen ja vartalonkäytön perusteella. Siinä on myös vähemmän käännöksiä ja kuvioita. It reached Havana in the early 20th century and soon took over the entire island. Son is more easygoing than salsa and there are less turns and figures than in salsa. Other major differences are the rhythm of the steps and body movements. In this course we will practice the basics of son: steps, rhythm, simple figures, leading and following.
