SILENT CONVERSATIONS
A two week retreat with Sasha Dodo
and Dolores Dewhurst-Marks
Cappadocia, Turkey
1 - 14 October 2026
This is an invitation to craft spaciousness for the art of living life as
a unique creative act, a gift for others, a mystery beyond time.
It is for those motivated to deepen their practice of listening and
enhance their embodied poetic availability.
THE PROGRAM
The program will take place in the natural landscapes and sacred sites of Cappadocia. It will include daily contemplative hikes in silence, meditative practices in stillness and movement; time for self-inquiry, conversation, writing and sharing poetry. We will explore the essential principals of Contact Improvisation and will practice making site specific improvised performances based on deep listening, our questions and the poetry present in our meeting.
The intensity of this retreat arises from its duration; we will be hiking and improvising in diverse landscapes many hours each day and co-living for two weeks. Part of the program will be emerging and will require a willingness to adpat. The daily scheulde will be subject to minor changes which could influence when we will eat and sleep. The physical practice and explorations require a readiness to navigate degrees of risk as sometimes we will be moving together through unpredictable terrain calling for extra attention for oneself, our partners and the group process.
This retreat invites those who have previously attended our programs of the last three years. If you feel resonance but are not familiar with us or our work, it might still be possible to join.
PLACE
Cappadocia is located in central Anatolia and was formed by volcanic eruptions from Mount Erciyes, Mount Hasan, Mount Melendiz. Over millions of years, layers of ash and lava were sculpted by wind, water, and time into valleys, fairy chimneys, and unique formations.
The softness of the stone allowed homes, churches, monasteries, and underground cities to be carved within it. From the Hittites through early Christian and Byzantine communities, Cappadocia became a place of refuge and spiritual life.
The landscape offers a contemplative, invitational setting in which a different sense of time and imagination can unfold. Visiting in golden autumn, we can expect temperatures on average 18-24 degrees in the daytime, and cooler nights of 7-12 degrees.
During the program we will visit different areas and sacred sites,
each with its own unique formation, history and atmosphere.
