Silent Conversations, Italy 1-10 October

1-10 October 2022 Donego, Italy Silent Conversations - Silence as a shared ground, space of communication and revelation - Silent conversations is an extra-ordinary ten-day art laboratory, an intersection of dance improvisation, poetry and performance. The laboratory is designed as an inspirational environment for focused practice and learning from self, other and the space. The approach of the laboratory: Dance improvisation as the art of listening. Poetry as a deeper form of attention, that allows a new language to arise from the embodied experience. Performance as the process of revealing what is already in the space. The practice will be grounded in being physically, attentionally, and poetically available for the immediacy, and intends to enhance and refine our compositional, relational and collaborative abilities. Creating conditions within ourselves to recognize and transform ordinary into poetic, the place where every thing is alive, interconnected and about to change. Most of the time we will work outside in the village, surrounding nature and neighbouring towns. This is not a silent event, yet we will practice mostly in silence. The schedule will be ready by 23rd September. Expect group work to be approximately 4-8 hours per day, with one day off in the middle. Due to the nature of improvised work, the preplanned schedule might be subject to changes. The lab is for those who feel confident in their own movement, comfortable being in the physical contact and ready to commit to the ten-day process. Partial participation is not possible. Location: Donego, a rustic village 200 meters above Lago Maggiore Lake and 13 kilometers from the Swiss border. From the Verbania train station it is a 20 minute bus line026 to Donego stop. Cannero Riviera is the closest town, it takes 30-40 min scenic walk through the forest or 8 min by car. (3.5km distance). There you can find supermarkets, cafes & restaurants. Contribution: Your contribution will go towards the organisational costs of the event. Sliding scale depending on your financial circumstances: 150-250 EUR. If you cannot afford the lowest price, please specify in the registration form how much you can contribute. Food will be self-organized, with an option of cooking together and sharing the cost. Weather: The specific geography of Lago Maggiore makes quick changes in temperature and precipitation. It’s good to bring a raincoat and warmer layers for cooler days, on average 15-8 *C.
